Charity cookbook design
In February 2014, we began a project to help the Encephalitis Society design their own cookery book to raise money for the charity.
We looked at what makes a cookbook great. What makes you want to turn the page over and over again. So often it’s more than just the content of the recipe, it’s also that you have been visually stimulated by the book design itself.
In March the photo shoot was completed and we began designing in May. It contains many recipes from a selection of amazing chefs and celebrities. The book will be officially unveiled later in 2014, with a launch party scheduled to take place in London on 28th June.
It’s an exciting design project and the book will provide an on-going, sustainable source of income for the charity and will help to raise awareness for the Encephalitis Society around the world.
Cookbooks will always remain a hard-copy artifact in a digital world. They are used as physical objects in a way other books are not. Graphic design plays a major role in making a great cookbook and with that good layout is essential. Honest photographs, preferably large on the facing recipe page, are ideal to really show off the food.
You can find updates, sneak previews, photos and more information on this culinary project on their website at www.encephalitis.info/get-involved/fundraising/cookery-book.
We thoroughly enjoyed working on this design project and can’t wait to see it printed very soon.
